Caterpillar anybody know?
There have been rumors floating around Bozeman MT that Caterpillar and Ford have made a contract for 2007. I would love some facts on the subject. I am originally from well near peoria Il. So I know some people that work there. The only thing they said is they heard rumors in January of 05 that a contract was being made for a smaller pick up truck engine, ford was never mentioned. I also heard chevy was a possibility but find it hard to believe since chevy guroos seem to drool over their Izuzu's. Anywho just wonderin if anybody knows anthing thing. This is my first time and glad to be a part of all this. Thanks for your time and info.

At any rate, I doubt too that Ford would just dump Navistar after such a long and profitable relationship--they've done pretty well for themselves over the last 10-15 years, particularly with the debut of the Powerstroke.

cat has motors that start at 0.5 liters and 8.2 hp right on up to some very big monsters with 6598 hp for big marine aps. in fact they even have thier hands in lawn mowers now cat powered http://www.cat.com/cda/components/fu...6&languageId=7

"cat will not do it they refuse to ruin their name with any scew ups."
Funny you should mention that, Cat, or Craterpiller as I refer to them, has been having an awful tough time with cylinder sleeves and heads lately, not to mention them being several years late on meeting emissions standards. I could begin to tell you how sorry Cats controls systems are, but thats also a post reserved for another thread as well.

Lean Burn 3600 series Nat Gas engine Cap. Their on their 4th revision now, and to date, I still don't think their schooled techs know any more about them than the operators and mechanics that run them. I will say that the Iron part of the engine is stellar. Nothing even near the reliability of the 379, 398, 399 Cat. as far as run time goes, they run and run and run some more. A good fog rolls through and the 3600 shuts down.
On the truck motor issue, A local company has 2 04' motors cratered in a shop and also an 05' less than 300,000 on all of them. They thought is was a lot of bad liners or heads, but when they started showing up on the 05's it is now an enigma, kinda like the 6.0. Many love em many hate em. OTR companies can barely afford fuel, let alone a downed truck, or 3.
