I'm looking for a pair of black cowboy boots to wear for dressing up (church, weddings, dinners, etc) and would appreciate any help in choosing a brand. I'm looking for something relatively inexpensive.
This will be my first pair of cowboy boots, and I'm excited. I've always wanted a pair. All I have now are work boots and a pair of church shoes.
Next question, this one a dumb one. What sort of pants should I wear so that I can wear the boots without looking like I have really small feet and still look formal? Would just regular dress pants or suit pants work?
black jeans buddy. shine them boots up, starch the jeans....killer! i prefer a good pair of fresh wranglers still really blued, starched with the crease over some tan ostritch boots i picked up in Mexico for 80$. awesome boots. i don't even have an insole in them. they are made by Montana. you can start lookin around at like Cavendars (gonna be costly though) to get a feel for what you might want. just check out all the different stores around. i'll see about postin a pic of my boots if you'd like. they are wingtips, can't find them in cavendars or anywhere else. if you could, prolly run ya 500+
I don't know anything about cowboy boots but my dad swears by Tony Lima's or Lema's or however their spelt. I guess it depends on what feels good on your feet.
The sole of them is this special Tekno Crepe material. Supposed to last longer than a traditional sole, tougher, yet more comfortable. They don't make that tap, tap, tap sound of the heels when you walk, like a regular boot would. They are incredibly comfortable, and very sharp looking. Downside.... expensive.
i have a pair of ariats and i love them! i was gonna go with the black but i decided on brown because i wanted to be able to wear them every day. but ariats are nice cause they have a rubber sole on them unlike most boots. i love them. before i broke them in i wore them down to chicago for a long day of walking, my feet swelled up a bit and it was really really hard to get my left boot off! very funny. but now ive had them broken in for a very long time and i absolutely love these boots! greatest things ever made!
get ya some justin ropers. great boot and come in all different colors. not too pricy eaither.
later,

Good. I'm tryin' to keep it under a hundred, which'll be kind of hard considering boots are pretty expensive, but I've found a couple nice pairs for $80 ish.
Just a little advice, don't get something really cheap that isn't all leather. Leather breathes and is much more comfortable. I've had good luck with Justin, Tony Lama, Nocona, etc. Ariat's are pretty comfortable right out of the box, don't need much breaking in. Justin Ropers are good if you don't like the taller heels on a standard cowboy boot. As far as pants, jeans and boots always go together, but I work in an office where jeans are not permitted. I wear boots with dockers style pants (khaki,, navy blue, etc) and they look great with boots. You may want to try the pants on while wearing the boots to make sure they are not too long or too short. You can't go wrong with brown or black cowboy boots, they pretty much go with anything.
I just bought a 150 dollar pair of Tony Lama's for 90. Look around for sales, a lot of times theyll have any where from 25-40% off and you can get a pretty good deal. I would go with black, brown boots arent very formal. And wearing em with slacks looks fine.
I just wish I knew of a place where I could find cowboy boots around here. Where I live, it's all rich-kid sandals and tennies. They don't sell any real-man boots anymore.
The most comfortable pair of shoes I ever owned were a pair of Justin lace up work boots. They had the rubber soles on them. Man, I preferred those over my Nike's. I have since wore out the toes from kneeling down and welding panels up on concrete. I'm gonna have to get another pair here pretty quick.
See if you've got any horse/western supply stores around. They might have a small selection of boots. If they do try them on for size, then you can search on the web for some pretty good deals...
