I have recently (a year a go) gone through all the seals and made sure they don't leak. but recently after pulling a decent hill under load seems the seals gave way everywhere. Where is the pressure build up coming from? and more over where do I releave it?
P.S. Anyone got any good tricks for cleaning a engine covered in oil? It was spotless yesterday and today its covered.
I'd start off with cleaning the engine off with Castrol Degreaser. It comes in a purple spray bottle or jug and you can find it at yer local Walmart. Spray it on, let it soak for a couple minutes. Do not get it on your trucks body paint. If left to sit long enough it will eat away the paint. Oo If your engine is painted then I would not let it sit for more than one minute before hosing it off. Worked wonders for the 23 years of accumulated grease, oil, and grime on my 78 F150.
had a 351c blow oil all over the place once. traced it back to the dip stick tube. the engine had over 100k and the previous owner had the heads rebuilt prior to selling the car. the engine would push oil out thru the dip stick tube.
I had the same problem with my 460. Too much pressure was pushing oil up the dipstick tube and all over the engine. The fan helped spread it everywhere making it hard to pin point. I cleaned and dried the engine, and drove it around the block. This put enough oil on the engine to narrow it down to the front half. Then, every place it could be leaking, I stuffed paper towels or rags and ran it again. That lead me to the dipstick tube.
To fix it, I put RTV on the top of the stick in the little cap-like thing. All that did was seal the tube and force any extra pressure to come out the breather.
I know it's just a temp fix, but I've had no leaks since, and no oil coming into the air cleaner.
