power steering got no power

power steering got no power
1979 ford f150 4x4
Previous owner replaced the power steering pump, but a problem still exists. The truck will turn right with some physical assistance, but it takes everything I've got to get the truck to turn left. I can hear the pump working overtime, but there is no assist. A mechanic told me I probably need to replace the steering box. He also said good luck finding one that is not worn like mine. Any suggestions? Can a steering box be rebuilt? Does ford have originals?
