Do YOU have cats?

Do 'ya? Why or why not? I took mine off mainly to gain sound...but they were shot anyway. When they are glowing red, they come off!!

No cats. 14.3 mpg before, as high as 17 after in same conditions - 2.7mpg improvement, and she SINGS to me. Did average about 12, now its more like 14.5 or so average economy.

catz

I have two cats on a single exhaust system and I hate it! I would cut them off with a hack saw but don't have the tools/ability/facilities to weld in another pipe. I would just clamp a pipe in place of the cats but I assume it would leak so I leave well enough alone.

The exhaust shops around here want to to everything by the book. At least $200 for cat back duals.

I choped mine, then when the shop wouldnt pass it for inspection I got one of them high flow cats. Didnt change the sound enough for me to tell the differance and made them happy. Guess we both won on that.

the exhaust shop wont take my cat off either but they are gonig to put a high-flow one in when the put my y-pipes in dual 2 1/4" in and single 3" out. i guess that works and keeps the tree huggers happy

I have one cat on mine. I wouldn't mind having it cut off, but I don't feel like having the hassle of getting an appt. at a shop, then sit and have 'em hack it off and weld in a y-pipe. I still might though, who knows.

I never thought about mileage. I average about 11, whereas my buddy with a hiflow gets about 17...maybe my cat's plugged or something.

I just don't see the point in having somthing that isn't needed/checked for. No emmissions or anything here. Plus the extra sound is nice, brings out the sound of the red hots.

Only because they're required for safety inspection in MO if the vehicle was originally equipped. Got 2 high-flow in front of dual Flowmasters on the 351, then stock setup on 00 Expy. My diesel won't have one, though!!

lol, I got my old heat shield of the cat and wrapped it around the 3" pipe. By just looking down there, it looks just like the cat is there.. (but its just a heat shield! )
