$450 later problem fixed

I posted the "battery light" and the "hot wire" Well I will try to make it short refering you to the past posts that i have referd to. Now I have replaced my batteries at $100 a piece, big Interstate batteries. And a new alt. Now where it gets interesting, in my past post i taked about the hot wire, well it must have been hot, I have to grind the nut off to get the wire off, it was just like a little exahust manafold bolt, burnt and rusted, the little rubber boot was like hard plastic, I cleaned the lug, aplied no-locks, and put it all back together, now i said the wire was hot like this since i bought the truck in 2001, I drove the truck for 450 miles, stoped for fuel, opened the hood, grabed the wire thinking I would feel pain, well no pain, the wire was hot, but i could hold it, the alt was hot, but figure that would be normal, and the real surprise, i am **** about fuel mileage, i always fill up to the top, and take the amount to fill and divide it into my milage ran, and the answer is my mileage. I ran at 2000 RPM the total trip, new I got 18.44 best! here lately 17.5. Now with the new alt, and two batteries I got 19.37. I use Diesel Kleen with every fillup since I bought the truck, but 19.37 was never recorded till now, I do believe that I have had a bad alt since the truck was new, that was one tough alt 114,000 miles later it decided to crap out with all that heat. I am very thank full for all of your help on this site, this is great. Take all the posts each year and put it into a book, I would buy it, what you do with the money you decide, but it would be a great book to have if you do not have a comp at your side when you want to read some great info. Thanks again

2001 PSD 4x4 crew,
