My hunting buddy has an 03 Duramax 2500 HD. He also has a 30' travel trailer and he has alot of trouble with the small mirrors on it. He's had some very close calls when making lane changes and backing it is a chore.
I still don't like the GM dash layout and look but that's a strong engine.
I had to mave the manual extended mirrors put on for just the same reason. But even those aren't all that great. Not as big as Fords. This is a step in the right direction. Would mind if they put in the intigrated brake controller either.
I assume they can be fitted on older Chevy/GMC's too?
If I was a parts manager at a dealership I would be making up kits of these now for older pickup owners.
I did notice in that article that they have increased the radiator, and coolant pump capacity for the 06MY too... (wonder why )
I wonder if they will available to owners of older Duramax's too

The unfortunate part, and I say this in all seriousness, is that even with all of the improvements, the Chevy Silverado 3500 DRW has a GVWR of 100 lbs. less than my new F-350 SRW.
I have nothing at all against Chevy/GMC, and I considered one before I got the F350, but for all the improvements to the truck, it still can't haul any more weight than it did before.
EDIT: I think this has been said before, but it was a serious point in my decision to go with the Ford over the Chevy.
Manufacturer's rating notwithstanding, I'm sure the GM trucks can carry every bit as much weight as the fords can over the rear axle. The frame may not be asa capable, but theres no denying that huge 11.50 rear axle they use, the thing has a true 13,500lb capacity. On top of that, take a look at the springs on a GM 3500 DRW. You litterally gotta poke your finger as you count so as not to lose count - theres like a million of them.
I think they are waiting for the 08 model year with the intro of their new pickup to up the GVWR.
But 1 thing to consider is that the GM prolly can haul more casue it's a lighter truck meaning more weight can be used towards load
It certainly is possible. My F-350 in my sig, with the b&w turnoverball and full tank of gas weighs 7900 lbs. without driver. That leaves me 3600 lbs. for payload. However, I am on the very heaviest end of the SRW as I have almost every option on the truck, CC, LB, 4wd, PSD, etc. A quick browse of the web returned a Silverado DRW Diesel Crew Cab with a curb weight of 6546 lbs. That is a significant difference, but I actually weighed my truck on a scale with a full tank of gas, and all of the options. I am a little suspicious of a "curb weight" pulled out of the air.
