2006 Duramax / Allison
Best mirrors going are the 8" x 9" west coast type with the 4" round convex mirrors mounted below them - similar to what International medium duty trucks have on them.
GM offers them but they arent too popular, I guess not too many people are enthused about all the bracketry and bars being mounted to their doors.
As far as regular extendable mirrors go - Ford's are best.

Whos NockFordMan??
Ok, to get the link to work, you simply copy the original link. Now, bring up a new internet page (the web browser) and paste it as the site address. Then click go, or hit enter, and the page with the mirrors will come up. Be prepared for some sickness of the stomach when viewing these.

well i think they look like dumbo ears on an otherwise good looking automobile. they could have left the dumbo ears on the dumbo truck. just picking. i never had any problems with the regular extendable tow mirrors gm had .....then again I know how to back.....and I was use to them. The ears will take a lot to get use to......they look fine on an SD but don't screw with the styling of the HD.
On edit: No one understood that the Dmax was designed to run hotter than people were use too. I think they just put the bigger cooler in since everyone knows you will be able to chip the LBZ to 800rwhp lol.

Try typing out the link for those that it didnt work. I tried the link also but no luck so I open another page and typed it out. Copy and paste changed the origianl a little.
Everyone noticed chevy upped the hp and torque to 360 hp and 650 torque for 2006. Does anyone have the numbers for the 06 PSD? Also duramazimizer brings up a good point you can get alot of gain by chipping a Dmax.
Oh yea the mirrors. Look like the ones you see on the Nissian. Spin off.

I'm shopping for a new truck so I've been studying the differences of both. The GM mirrors are a big step in the right direction. Still the Ford's look nicer and the feel of extending them is better than GM, but in the end it ain't that critical. As far as maximum trailer weights or GVWR, that is specsmanship at it's finest. For example, the 2006 Chevy brochure has max trailer weight at 16,700 lbs with DMax. The 2006 Ford brochure tops out at 16,500 with a 6.0. Do you really think you'll tell a difference? You will be cautious pulling with either one with a trailer that heavy. Both brands have several configurations that are rated for 23,500 GVWR using 3.73 gears, however if you put 4:30 gears on the 6.0 they rate it at 26,000. Can you pull as effectively if you put 4:30's on a DMax? - of course!
Buddy at work has a 2500 Durmax. Gota give Chevy credit, they sure do have a nice interior. Never driven one while pulling. I offered him my travel trailer, only 6500 but he hasnt had the free time yet and winter is here. Next year I'll offer again and see how it pulled for him.
