How much throttle is to much for the tranny? Just today I was hauling about 5.5t of top soil and was backing up to dump it. I went dead on to a 6"-7"curb(no choice to go on angle), when I reached the curb I had to give it gas to go over.... I had it floored for a few seconds and it wouldn't budge.
I know I'm asking to much but kind of disipointed that it didn't have the power to go up.
I have a F550 4.88 rear. Will the tranny give out if I have an episode like this again? Thanks.
i'd use some 2x4 or something ...ramming trailers over 8" is hard on everything ...i always carry blocks for just such occassions ... good way to blow a traile tire too ....

I was hauling(carrying) not towing the load. I just wanted to know if something gona snap by doing that. thanks for the input.
Oh , OK .. I was picturing you taking a run at the curb with one of those dump box trailers .... with that kinda weight I'd still want to use blocks or something to make a ramp ... kinda like hitting a curb with a full wheel barow ...u might bounce over but how long til your back and arms give out ?

yes..but does this sort of full throtle non moving pressure on the tranny ruin the torqconverter or something else or none?

Not physically, but it does build heat. Doing this over a curb is harmless, you just wouldn't want it stalled for extended periods of time. This principle is how us drag racers launch our trucks at the strip.
The only physical damage will be if you stall the truck beyond the torque converter's stall point, in which you will begin spinning (slipping) the clutches of the low/reverse gear in the transmission. If you didn't exceed 2200 rpms, it doesn't matter how far you have to mash the throttle down.
