I always shut off whatever diesel I'm driving in a drive through.

Those poor guys are tortured enough!

You talking the old 12 V, the old 24V or the new Cummins 600?
They all sound VERY different. The 600 is by far the most quiet.
Your right, my bad. I had a chance to hear the newest cummins, boy it was pretty quiet. have you guys seen the new body style, the look exactly like a dakota, thats no lie.

Not a lot of college kids have these trucks so its always awesome to roll up to a party and have everyone look at you with envy, its like a party stopper. People always ask is it that loud in the inside. Of course its not. Best truck ever love it

Guess I'm the odd one here...I wish my diesel were as quiet as a gasser. Not that the PSD is all that noisy, but I don't like listening to the rapid tick,tick,tick,...when driving. I understand this is normal and is caused by the injectors under high pressure.

I have only briefly driven a 6.0l - and the engine noise I can't really remember, all I recall is the gobsmacking acceleration.
I only have driven a Cummins and a Duramax briefly too.

So I voted for my 7.3l.

But as for sound, my old supercharged 5.4 takes the cake for that. It could make grown men weak at the knees at WOT in 3rd...

I have driven a Cummins. It had good acceleration - and I take nothing away from that fine engine. I was not impressed however with the fit/finish and ride of the Dodge.

I have owned both the 7.3 and the 6.0. The 6.0 tows rings around the 7.3 and acceleration is definately better on the 6.0. Now as far as the towing is concerned, my 7.3 PSD was a SRW with 3.73 gears and the 6.0 is a DRW with 4.10 gears. Towing is much smoother, quicker and in every way better then the 7.3 IMHO.
