The wire is tan with yellow stripe In my schematic from the cheesey manual it shows the t/y wire to go from the distributor to the ICM also showing a wire that goes to the distributor from the coil but it is not labeled!
Reason why is I have replaced the coil the ICM the distributor(never use a gear puller to remove the gear use the old method hammer and fork had to replace distributor because of broken gear)and still no spark!
I have pip signal at the coil and at the ICM today i will check the SPOUTat the ICM connection for signal also on the tan wire inside the harness from the coil is a fusable link which is on the list to check today.
what does the wire go to??????
It all started a few months back it seem to miss every now and then as if the spark was grounded when it died on the road it would still make spark for a few secs then it finally kicked the bucket . So thnx for ne help

Check the connector that plugs into the ignition module and make certain that it is not corroded. If it is, you can replace ethe connector. Just a thought, becuase we lost all spark on our '92 Aerostar, and after a lengthy diagnosis, that basically said all parts were working, and yet there was still no spark, we had to tow it to a shop and they found the faulty connector. Seemed the PIP signal was working, but the module itself wasn't receiveing it due to a bad connection. Do you have a haynes manual? It has a pretty decent diagram of the ignition system.

Well so far all connectors are clean and clear of debris! I have located the tan wire in the
92 7.5 L engine schematic it is the only one with the correct diagram that matches the harness. The "fusable link" is a resistor, it is good, the capacitor is fine no shorts and it reads on the meter. I am still not sure as of this moment if i have a SPOUT signal I didnt see any needle flucuations Do I have to have an led probe to actually test for the SPOUT signal ?

Pcm

RacerGuy helped in another thread "electrical nightmare" in the electrical forum

This also seems that this should be the first diagnostic manuever to make when checking the Ignition System [is to pull the SPOUT connector and separate the ICM from the PCM] for those that have SPOUT,even if it was unlikely that the brain failed!
By what I am reading in this forum alot of roadside mechanics are replacing all/most of the components (some just for the 'ell of it) and still not finding the answer!
So instead of tracing the spark backwards start with what makes it "LOGIC", then follow thru the rest of the diagnostic steps if u need still nuthing like new components Hey why not a new truck!!!!

so next is to trace the wire to the PCM
Is there a way to check the PCM when it is out of the truck?

Should I seek a new brain or find a Frankenstein got all new components so maybe new brain is a smart move!

Also a bit of ford history on this van of say 300,000 + miles still runs great!
First problem for the newest owner(sec owner actually)
Went to turn it over ca chug ca chugg snap weird I tell ya weird

Dang ga nang ga nit how something so thin can break a starter Done Guessing?

most likely somehow maybe maybe not the pressure increased in the return fuel line
causing the diaphragm in the fuel regulator to burst sending gasoline into the intake flooding the cylinder, stopping the piston

snapping the stater

took days to find that one

nite all

Still not sure about the brain,so drove it to the speacialist laid down another hundred bucks for them to tell me exactacally what I already knew that it could possibly be the eec-iv(PCM){brain}!!
I never checked the spout wire for a discontinuity I just assumed it was fine since all the others check out!!!!!!

Well to end this thread and solve the problem all was needed for the fix was a brain got a junker for 75 bucks
Starts right up runs great so now it is time to fix the coolant flush line as it started leaking from the quick connect at the heater core tee connection and dripping on the serpentine belt and pulling the backing off
LUV IT LUV IT
Laters Y'all
ALSO MY BAD THIS IS A 92 e350 5.8 automatic with tfi system
