trying to get around the changing the fuel filter on a diesel for the first time. Can anyone help me with directions, and how do I drain the water trap? Thanks

very simple job, just did mine for the first time. the valve lever is located on the back of the fuel bowl. Open it up and it will drain, there is a 5/16 nipple you can connect a hose to and control the drain. I just opened mine and caught most of the fuel with my oil pan catcher. Once drained just close the valve and unscrew the filter using a 1/2 inch drive. My replacement was the complete filter with the cap. Lube the o-ring with fresh fuel and fill the bowl halfway up with fuel.
Re-install new filter and your good to go.
If you can't fill the bowl half way up with fuel just turn the ignition on and let it set for a minute before you crank it over.

Good luck
Bill
