99 7.3 PS stalling

Newbie to FTE, first post, great site! I'm looking for some help. I recently purchased my 99 PS in April and having been loving it ever since. 20 mpg. Today on my way to work the truck stalled in traffic going downhill, I thought I was low on fuel as warning light came on sitiing down hill? The truck started no problem and I carried on to work. Low fuel warning lamp was off on way home but truck stalled again twice, both times stopping at a light, but started again no problem, then truck stuttered a little while making a slow corner and the engine light came on but truck kept running fine again. shut engine off and restarted and engine light was now off. could this be a water problem (no warning indicator) or Cam sensor? any ideas truck seems to run fine. low fuel indicator never did come on again

CPS sounds like a good starting place. Can you pull codes? Usually CPS will throw code especially since you got a CEL. If you have programmer ck the codes and if CPS is not on the list get back to us with what is on it. You can go to Auto Zone also and have them read code.

If it is CPS buy it from one of our sponser's or international, NOT Ford Stealer.

I am almost 100% sure your problem is the cam shaft sensor, powerstrokes eat those like candy. Hope this helps. I would suggest to keep a spare in your glove box.

Thanks, checked codes today and CPS came up, priced one out at local parts supplier here in Canada and their discounted price to me was $430 plus tax "OUCH" called the Ford Stealer and they wanted $287 and tax. May have to try and get 1 on Ebay

Know any suppliers north of or close to Seattle?

I'm having the same problem, but it only happens after sitting all day or overnight. It starts with no problem, then just stops. After cranking a couple of times, and going down the road similar to the engine "missing" the problem goes away and no problem. Just replaced CPS (when the problem started). Any additional help/ideas would be appreciated.

I replaced the CPS yesterday and it seems to have fixed the problem....no stalling and maybe even running a little better? I was able to find one at International for $145 Canadian....very close to what it would of cost at $93 US plus shipping, duty and the exchange, and I had it in my hand and replaced in less than 1 hour....Thanks for your help guys.....Sonnyyar did you run your codes?

Finally made it over to Auto Zone. Service Light On while driving over after several times of restart and "missing". There were no codes.... This problem only happens in the morning, and after sitting more than 3-4 hours. Any other time, or after several restarts it runs and idles fine. Also, when problem is happening, it is like momentary off of the key and sometimes it will recover and continue to run and sometimes engine dies, depending on RPM. When the problem goes away it is not gradual, it just suddenly begins to run normally.

Thanks for any help, cause this is getting frustrating.
