I've had a curious question about my bed since I bought my truck, used !
The previous owner has moved and I can't contact him so I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone has a similar problem or can shed any light !
Between the bed rails on the floor it is lower than the rails themselves. It's kind of a rolling look, water will stand there until I sweep it out or it evaporates. It has nothing to do with the operation of the veh. I'm just curious about the cause. Could it be from hauling something heavy like gravel or wet sand ?
I've often thought about getting a can of that Herculin Bed liner and trying to level the floor out. Short of replacing the bed what else is possible ?
Like I said, has anyone else had this problem and if so what was the cause and how did you fix it ????? I may just have to live with it.
Thanks.....
Slam on the gas - that usually gets all the water out of my bed
Seriously though, sounds like something heavy was put in there, but something soft enough to comform to the rails while bending the weak sheet metal inbetween. To be sure, check another Superduty, visit the local dealer
Get some aluminum or chromed diamond plate, drill holes that match the bed hold-downs, and bolt it on... Might look good...
Other than that, body-shop might be able to do something, but that's welding/painting/etc which would be expensive.
It sounds like the truck was used as a "truck" In that the bed was worked... when you put lots of stuff in the bed and it bounces around for a while it will make dents in the weak spots of the bed.... in between the cross members
