No offense, but where's the mud? Looked like just muddy water, and not very deep at that. If you want a real test, take her down to the Louisiana swamp trails. Those Cajuns don't even call it mud bogging, unless the mud comes up over the hood. Looks like fun, though.
Nice looking truck, though. Last decent mud I had was on some of the old logging roads on top of the Grand Mesa near Grand Junction, CO. I noticed you were from Valencia. Was this mudhole courtesy of one of the recent thunderstorms?
I have been thinking about getting an Ex, but I am curious as to how you trashed your transfer case. Did it have something to do with the lift, or is there some inherent weak spot I should know about. Thanks.
Great looking truck, but here in Louisiana we've got sections of interstate that look a bit worse than that...
If you haven't done it already, could you list the suspension mods on your truck? I'd like to lift mine simply to make it easier to clean - the mud we have here usually requires a shovel to remove, and I hate lying on my back under the truck when trying to get it clean.
Yes I live in Valencia California, but that place there was in the San Gabriel Mountains next to Azusa. Those last Thunderstorms didnt hit us to hard back here, what did hit us hard was the rains back in january which took out some main HWY's.
As far as the transfer case goes you could go to the 6.0 diesel section on this forum and I posted a thread there, look for thread= "weak spot? or did i push it to the limit" There youll figure out that it was mainly my fault. I have pulverized this truck to points where after the fact I sit there and ask my self wtf was I thinking?
mods:
8" atlas springs
4" hangers front
4" blocks rear/total of 12" suspension lift
stainless steel Traction bars/rear
8 Rancho 9000 reservoir shocks pro series
custom drive shafts front and rear
456 gears front and rear
mag hytec front/rear diff covers and mag hytec tranny deep sump pan
hydraulic ram assist unit
cross over steering
american racing 22" forged wheels
40" Nitto Mud grapplers
yea out here in california thats about as good as it gets
thats bs. I grew up in southern california until I left for the military. There are many a places I have drug my transmission and bumpers through the mud. You just have to know where to look
Teroy
that right there was Azusa cyn, its actually one of the better places to go off roading here locally just that day it wasnt to crazy. Check out this picture of my friends F150 up there in the same place, he was stuck for hours and our ice chest was in the back of his truck by the time we got him out all the beer was gone haha they got real thirsty. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...ictures082.jpg
Ahh that 3-wheeler in the first vid has the right idea!!
Gotta love the comments from your ladyfriend and the peanut gallery though!
Cool vid, at least you've got the cajones to take your rig out, not many people do!
On Edit: Hold up, I just re-read your first post. . .how the hell did you bust your t-case? Surely not going through that stuff, mud didn't even come up to the rim. Details, we need details!!
