I have a '99 E350 V10 Super Duty Ext Club Wagon with 140K. It's been sitting for a few months and now barely runs. Ran fine before. Before I parked it the van would misfire badly in wet weather. I have replaced several coils over time. I must admit I have never changed the plugs. I have checked all the electrical connectors I could find. It doesn't show any codes.
It starts and idles just fine. Driving down the road and several things happen.
First it feels like a bad coil (I have experiance with this), then it seems like the trans holds 1st and 2nd gear a very long time. Then the engine starts kicking and bucking badly. When I come to a stop the truck idles fine.
I ran the truck with a scanner hooked up; no codes but I noticed when the engine started missing the timing when nuts. Under throttle the timing severely retarded, lift off and the timing was normal. I don't know if the timing is reacting to another problem or the timing is the problem.
Where is the timing sensor? Any ideas? Thanks for the help.
Almost sounds like the TPS might be having issues. Either that or the computer is getting funny signals from it. I say this because of the tranny is shifting weird too.
