Is anybody using Chevron Supreme 5-20 in the V-10. I am ordering a V-10 very shortly, and found this oil in the parts house. I have been a Delo fan for years even in my gas engines. Just wondering what the V-10 gurus think of this oil, would very convient for me to use.
Hi RAH , Good luck with your new V10. I think you are going to love it. I used Delo 15- 40 in my Diesels for 11 years and I like Chevron products so I am sure you will be fine with the 5-20 in your new V10. I think the reason so many of us use the Motorcraft 5-20 is because it is also a fine product and it is so reasonably priced at Walmart.
Are you going to order an 06 or 07? That could be an interesting choice for you but at least with the V10 you are getting an engine with a proven track record no matter what model you go for. We all hope Ford bumps up the V10 power even more in 07 just to keep ahead of the gasser competition. IMO Ford is so far ahead in gas motors, the other two will be lucky to ever catch up. Take care.

I use it in our Suzuki XL-7 in 5W-30, as long as the ASE number is the same as what your owners manual calls for you'll be good to go. Personally I use Motorcraft 5W-20 in my V10. I get the best mileage, it's inexpensive, it cools the best, I change it somewhere in between 3 and 5 thousand miles depending on how hard I've been running the old girl.
Chevron Supreme is supposedly one of the best oils on the market. I used it in several vehicles before I got my SD, but can no longer find Chevron locally at all. I would think the more available Texaco Havoline (the Chevron/Texaco version, not the Shell-made Texaco Havoline) would be the same, but who knows.
On a side note, if you went with Texaco Havoline, you would not have to worry about getting the Shell-Equilon product since they quit making it two years ago anyway. Shell can still sell Texaco-branded fuels in the U.S. but their rights to the Havoline expired in 03 I believe.-
