may be a faulty car, or not enough fuel reaching into the carb. You should also check for leaks. There are lots of vendors selling 86. you can try Ford Parts Online
hey guys. well, we managed then to take it to a repair service .
it's more about of the choke mechanism of the car says the mechanic. even I don't know what that means.
Let me clarify. F-150 5.0 was EFI or carbed in 86. Most of the trucks in 86 with the 5.0 were EFI. The rest were carbed that year.
460 was not an option in an 86 f-150.
He wasn't real clear in his first post with the specifics of the truck.
86 is fuel injected.

Need more details about the truck and the problem. When does it happen
Ok now I have been confused, my 86 has a carb, can something be fuel injected and have a carb? (Scratching head wondering if she is just not awake and making the neural connections this morning)
Ok more clear now...as for the choke system, I had similar problems with mine, and still do. My mechanic says that I should get either a rebuilt carb or new one...and then we should be able to get the choke situation sorted out. If I recall correctly it is a vacum operated choke...I think, maybe, perhaps?
'86 was the first year Fuel Injection was offered as an option. You could get either carb'ed or injected on the F-150's. I ordered mine with EFI in '86. ($300 option if I remember correctly)
