Here's a short block so far, Wednesday the heads should go on.
If you don't mind, are those Oliver rods? Who's crank? It looks like you drilled a good bit of steel out of it to balance it.....looks like mine! My Oliver rods and Ross pistons are really light and the motor now likes to rev. Bet this thing is gonna spin nicely. What is the final ci? 434?
The crankshaft is an Eagle crank, rods are also an import. CI is 434. This crankshaft was suppose to be in a 351W, but it is better in the 400 block. We can use a nice long COn rod, where the 351W with the short deck requires a short rod. Rod to stroke ratio in a 351W is horrible.
Wow, Tim! It's looking good so far. Are those your KB pistons? What CR did you opt for? I know you're busy, but hurry up and get that thing on the dyno - we're anxious.
These pistons are machined for us by KB. We also have forged pistons coming very soon for the 400 crankshaft. They are a flat top, and we machine a dish if lower compression is desired.
Hurry up and work the bugs out, but take your time to do it right! I'm already saving money for my stroker kit from you Tim. What due you think about a .060 overbore to get 440ci? Just saying its a 440 Cleveland sounds to cool. I guese it would depend on the block? I'm thinking of about 10-1 comp and a intake closing angle to run 92 unleaded with iron heads. Screw gas mileage and high fuel prices, the money I save by not buying new truck with a crappy IFS more than compensates, and more fun to boot. I can't wait to see what that thing does on the dyno! keep up the good work. Thanx.
