There should be a smaller plastic "ribbed" hose inside your filler neck to vent the tank when fueling.
Sounds like it either has a hole in it, is crushed or came off the top of the filler lead restrictor, allowing gas to enter the vent hose, thereby not letting air to escape the tank.
Have you ever tried putting gas into your saw, or lawn mower without opening the vent cap, on the container?
It should run from the tank to the little notch and hole in the top of the filler tube where the gas cap goes. You can't see it unless you have the filler tube disconnected since it is inside the filler tube.
Thanks everyone, vent had slipped down from filler neck, fuel goes in with no problem and even holds more fuel, now I need to figure how to pay for all that gas!
