Fuel gauge stuck on E

Fuel gauge stuck on E
1997 psd 4wd
Mu fuel gauge wont move off E when I have my front tank switched on. It is not only on E it is below E. I think I am not getting any power to the gauge or the sending unit. I just had the transmission worked on, and I wonder if when taking out the trans or, putting it back in a wire could have ben disconected or shorted out. Any thoughts? And yes the tank is full.
