Drw

I have a quick ?. Since there are 4 rear wheels to spread out the weight on a DRW, would it be correct to say the traction is reduced a lot compared to an SRW truck? 4 opposed to 2? How well do the L/s work on the 4.10 and 4.30's ?thanks

Yes the weight is spread out but depending on your situation you will get more traction because the square inches in contact with the ground will be more. Some people say that the DRW does worse in snow because of this I can't really tell. I had mine last winter and in the few snows that I drove it in I didn't have any problems.

In stock tune I have only been able to spin the rear tires on wet pavement, turning a corner and flooring the pedal. Doing that and the rear will swing out. I just purchased a Predator and installed the 65hp tune over the weekend. I haven't had a chance to really try and stand on it but a couple of times when leaving a gravel road onto pavement I've gotten the wheels to spin at the edge of the gravel and kept them spinning several feet onto the pavement.

Overall, except for a possibility with snow (that I haven't noticed) I would say my DRW has more traction than my old SRW did.

That seems like the logical answer, and I think it is the one most will give. In snow, the weight is spread over 4 tires, so each one has less weight pressing it down into the snow for traction... more "floating" than a SRW. Also, neither rear follows the same line as the front, so instead of having one path that the front and rear both follow, it's more like three separate paths all overlapping, if you follow.

Also, mud tends to get pressed up between the two rear wheels. This is all from reading the opinions of others, by the way.

I can't really speak on the LS questions..... I think the general opinion is that they don't always work the best all the time, and that an aftermarket version would be best. Personally, I want to order mine with the 4.10s on the dually, so am forced to get it with LS, since it's plain 3.73, or 4.10 LS.

EDIT: if you search on "dually" or "DRW" or similar subjects, I'm sure you'll find quite a few threads on the duallies.

thanks for the rep's...so i don't think i'd need sandbags in the winter anymore with a DRW OR SRW right? That would explain why no super duties have sandbags in the rear....How are the Bfgoodrichs traction wise? Well, the DRW weighs somewhere around 7,500 lbs or more doesn't it?

I love my Dually, but the one place I have found it to be at a disadvantage is winter driving, in snow it is a little looser than my '02 SRW was but not too bad. Where the dually is at a big disadvantage is in heavy slush. The extra contact area makes it way easy for it to get up on top and hydroplane there.
