I have seen what your talking about, and I'll have to look it up, but I'm not sure if it was even on a NP205(not dana).

Ive seen the parking/e-brake on the back of a NP435 4sp tranny that came out of a 73-79 F600 truck. Maybe you can find one of these and make it work on the 205? Just a thought.

So would that be for parking only or is it strong enough to use as an emergency brake to lock the rears up?

You could use it to stop just like pinion brakes used on the Rockwells but only at very SLOW speeds because the heat generated will be tremendous and would burn it up in no time. Plus with a pinion brake if you have an open diff and one wheel is not getting as good traction as the other it'll just keep spinning. Realistically this is not something you'd ever want to use as a driving brake but it could be done.

Some states are very picky about that kind of nonsense, make sure that your not going to get told "Im sorry, it has to be a stock type setup to pass"

It wouldnt surprise me at all......

What is the caliper mounted to? Seems like it would need to be a pretty stout bracket attached to the tranny housing? How is it attached?

Icicle, is that system usable as a driveline retarder? Probably not but if so would be nice while towing on long downgrades.

Not based on what Ivan said:

I did the same and was looking at this page

http://www.off-road.com/ford/bigbroncos/tech/reardisc/

It states that you can use a rear caliper set up from a cadillac eldorado. It has a provision for a "manual" parking brake.
