I have a thread going in the f150 forum, but i don't seem to be getting many responses.
Whats is everyone's experience with summit? Good service? good prices? What about their product, good quality? The reason i'm curious is because their headers are significantly cheaper than the other brands and i'm wondering if I'm going to be making a mistake by taking the cheap way out on my 5.4.
I don't see what could be that different unless there is a bad weld on the header, or something doesn't line up.
I've ordered a few items from them, but the items were nothing special, meaning just things like an an engine lifting plate that attaches to the mounting surface of the intake manifold. Stuff like that.
A friend of mind orders from both Summit and Jegs for his race car.
Summit generally makes their headers from 16ga metal (maybe 18ga) it's thinner then the hedman stuff hence more prone to cracking. They carry a good selection, but i don't really like the customer service people, they're kinda mean.
I actually had summit headers on my 94 F150 5.8. They were really made by Holley. The paint burns right off, so that look like crap really quick. Other than that they were great.
Summit is great. i have had nothing but great experiences with them. Tech support is top notch, the people I have talked to didnt mind answering even the dumbest of questions and one person even helped me trace down a vacuum leak and told me a part # so I could go to advance and get parts.

The i talked to when i placed my order acted like i was making do the worst thing in the world.

Before installing painted headers, paint them with stove paint (available from any good hardware store). Good to 1400 degrees.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Summit, especially their shipping. Free shipping, and if they sent it any quicker it'd be on my front steps before I ordered it. I bought a set of rear springs for one of my trucks, they were here in a day, for free. Not bad for a long piece of steel that weighs 80+ pounds
Oh yeah, they put together a custom edelbrock intake for me, which was great, they have a great selection and good prices too. I was just commenting that the summit headers look cheap.
I've bought my truxedo tonneau cover, husky splash guards, and red line gear oil from them. And the stuff arrived real quick using the cheapo/free method for shipping. I would definitely buy from them again.
