My truck get real hot as highway speeds and fine at lower speeds, it also gets hot when the air is on. I just replaced the clutch fan. Its a 88 w/ 302, auto, 110k. Anu ideas?
What condition is the inside of the radiator in as far as mineral buildup on the tubes? Have you flushed the cooling system and refilled with a 50/50 mix? How about the lower hose, any chance the spring has been removed causing it to collapse at higher speeds. What about the engine timing? Have you cleaned the condensor and radiator of any dirt and bugs?
I checked the condition of the coolent, it seems fine. I did not see bugs or junt on the radiator itself either. I checked to see if there was a spring in the bottom tub and I did not fell one. So that may be the problem. Its just odd to me because it has just started recently, and its only at high speeds. Seems like thats when it should be at its coolest.
not right.. the stat is probably stuck fully open or else it would over heat at the same rate no matter what the speed. if the coolant flows to quickly it doesnt have the time needed to lose the heat from the engine during the time the coolant is in the rad..i had this prob.... not just blowing smoke..
