LPG conversion
LPG conversion
How hard would it be to convert my V10 to run off propane or bi-fuel propane and gas. CNG could also be an option, but the nearest gas station that has CNG is 80 miles away. I am putting a few too many miles on this thing and with gas at 4.50 a gallon its getting quite expensive.
I drive 200 miles a day so 200x5x4x12=48000 a year, not counting weekend travel.

Put propane nozzle behind throttle plate.
bang...
Good luck metering it...
But theoretically, it works that way...
Uhmmmmm, tha sounds a little too easy. Never mind mounting the tanks, running the lines, tieing it in to the throttle, making the computer work with it, etc. Doable, YES! Extremely easy, uhh, don't know about that.

Drive to a propane distributor that has converted their V10's to propane and ask them to see it. I will guarantee you the dist. would love to hook you up with a propane conversion, they'll sell more gas.
Don't forget besides the cost differences, that "alternative fuel" vehicles get tax breaks.
From where and how much, well, that differs based on where you are. I'm sure NYC would give a bigger tax break than, say, the woods in Upstate NY.
When Ford was still making dual-fuel trucks, I really wanted one... then, when it came time to get my '01 or an '02, they stopped. Figures. I really would have loved LNG or LPG as a backup...
