shift lever removal???

Question on how to remove the shifter from a 1975 F-250 with the "granny" 4-speed. Does in unscrew from the top of the transmission, or do I drive out a pin, or ???. I want to remove the lever so I can paint it, but I'm not sure how it comes off.

Any help appreciated.

shift lever removal???

If its a T18 unscrew the retainer, A NP435 push the retainer down and turn it.




1979 F350,4x4,NP435,5:13 gears,Detroit locker in rear with hardened shafts,ABR in the front,L&L Ladder Bars,360 with 428 crank & rods,390 HP heads,Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch,MSD Ignition,39.5x18 Boggers,bucket seats out of a Lightning,& a Southern Body that is perfect.




1997 F350 PowerStroke 4X4,36 Inch Super Swampers, Strait Piped, Chiped, Propane Injected, LUK Clutch

Sound simple enough...Now how do I tell the difference between a T18 and a NP435???

Just in case you haven't figured this out already, I'm a former chevy guy. :P

shift lever removal???

The top of the trans where the shifter is aluminum on the NP435. The T18 is cast iron.
