Sounds like you already have more HP than you can get rid of the heat from.
More HP = more heat, fact of life you can not get around.
Do you have an EGT guage or boost guage?
If so what are they reading?
Readings on the dash oil pressure and temp guages really indicate nothing.
Get some real mechanical guages installed if you want to know what is going on with the engine.
order the gauge kits will install soon nobody has any ideas on ram intake air modifications. i saw dave's grill mod good deal but i am looking for a hood scoop modification just have not seen one i like and can fabricate. like to see pictures off someone's install of a intercooler on turbo idi not a ats or banks setup. got a psd intercooler does the size make a difference
I thought about a hood scoop, but unless the opening is right at the front of the hood it will not catch much air at speed. The top of the hood is a low pressure area. To get any ram air effect it would probably be better to have the opening face the windshield close to the back of the hood. I did not want to chop up my hood and have it not work, so I went with the grill area. It does work well, I have a couple of pounds of boost at 70 MPH with my foot off the throttle.
I have a power stroke intercooler also, what I am giving thought to about it is how to keep the joints sealed tight with the amount of frame flex I have as well as the movement of the engine due to torque.
It is going to be a challange to manufacture the plumbing to hook it up and keep it sealed while I go the places I normally go with the loads I normally haul.
If and when it does get installed the large size of the power stroke intercooler will probably result in some turbo lag, but the people behind me will just have to deal with the black smoke a little longer than normal.
