I've got a ding on the curve in my fender on the top. (Sig. truck) A camera can't see it,and it isn't THAt bad,but it shows. Whats good to get it out? I really don't want to use a slide hammer for a little ding,Lol.
OK, I'll bite - in your sig you state "laidher" and you neglect to mention who the lucky lady is/was - dare I ask!!! (BFG)
Just a couple of quick thoughts on this. 1) How proficient are you with some lightweight bodyfiller and a professionally mixed spray bomb of matched color? 2) Depending on where, exactly, the ding is - is there any chance that you could get at it from the underside with a bodyman's spoon and a body dolly on the outside?
I know that we have a couple of companies that call themselves "Ding Doctors" and such and they specialize in working on dings exactly like you describe. They are always in high demand by the various auto dealers who are trying to clean up trade ins before putting them on the lot. Maybe you could ceck with a couple of auto dealers in your area and see if they know of any one who speciailizes in ding removal.
Unless I take the fender off,I cant get to it from behind and bondo and all the sanding and painting for one litlle ding seems a bit much. I'm afraid to go to a body shop for this, lol. It's right there at the curve towards the hood.
We up here in Saskatchewan have places called the dent clinic. The can usually get into those hard to get at places and they have special tools to massage the dents out. Sometime they have to drill holes in an area that is not seen inside the fenders and they plug them with rubber seals afterwards. See if you can find a place that massages dents out. They do this without sanding and repainting. The vehicle looks like nothing was ever wrong. Good Luck.
As long as there are scratches or creases they can usually fix them. Here they cost anywhere from $75 to $150 depending how many and how big. Still they are usaully done in a day and not tying up your vehicle in a shop for a days or weeks as a body shop would. Plus no painting, so color still matches.
Now those prices are Canadian. Check the autobody shops or autobody supply businesses. They should be able to tell you who locally does dent massaging in the area.
