Smile Sure is a great feeling!

It sure is a great feeling when you finally finish installing a freshly rebuilt engine. I spen the entire summer rebuilding my inline six, and about 4 weeks ago my 1981 F100 was on the road again. Ever since then I've been tweaking this, adjusting that, and now, it purs like nothin else. I definatly runs better than my dad's 95 taurus . Before this project I could only get 4 of the 6 cylinders to fire, and now with all 6 of 'em on my team, I'm QUITE impressed with the power available.

Once I got the original engine out, I was thinking, "oh man...I'm NEVER going to get through with this!" Now I'm sitting back, thinkin about how negative i was about the whole thing. It sure was worth it. Definatly worth an entire summer of work.

The only regret I have is not painting the valve cover, and some of the other parts like that. All of my friends were really impressed at what I did, but I can't say "just wait till you look under the hood!" I know what's under there, but they would just be like "looks like an old truck."

It's got a rebuilt engine, new alternator, new battery, new power brake booster, new starter motor, new Bosche platinum spark plugs, new Bosche spark plug wires, new distributer cap and rotor, rebuilt carburator (stock single barrel carter...), 4 new tires, and a whole crap load of sweat mixed in thanks to the wonderful Texas summer heat.

Exaust wise, I have a strait pipe (no cat) with an 18 inch glasspack and a 3" pipe dumped around the rear axle. The sound definatly seduces the all the little hondas driving around.

Well I think I'm going to go drive my NEW truck around the block .

-Matt

Gotta be a great feeling. I've never done it, but have had three trucks with the 300 I6.

Sounds good, I just started mine this weekend. Hopefully it won't take me that long. This is my first I-6 rebuild. I've done a couple of small 4 cylinders about 10 years ago. I have an 82 F-100. I also have the single barrel Carter. All of the vacuum lines are confusing, and not all attached, I'll figure it out when I get to it. I just bought the truck, it has 228,000 miles and leaks everywhere, so I figured I'd rebuild it. It's challenging but satisfying.

Steamir, let me know when you start messing with all the vacuum lines and stuff. All of mine were chaos and all messed up and it took me a week to get it all straightened out, but I have pictures and diagrams if you need them.

Wooma,
Thanks for the offer, pictures and diagrams would be great. I'm sure It would save me alot of research and headaches. I posted some pictures that I took of my engine last week. I compared them to yours, most iof the engine is same. You have a different breather and of course a better looking engine. Take a look at my 3rd photo and notice all of the different colored vacuum lines. Is this the same as yours? I hope so. I'll post more pictures later as I get going. Thanks in advance for the pics and diagrams.
