Can anyone tell me where I can get tried and true info on calculating my pushrod length? I have a set of GT-40 heads that were decked, 1.7:1 roller rockers ( ford motor sport) and roller cam. Call me paranoid, but I need more than a just slap it in aproach. I've looked in several engine building books as well as some web sites and can't find anything that sounds concrete. PLEASE HELP!!!
Crane cams DOES recomend longer pushrods for 1.7:1 ratio rocker arms. (the ones made by crane for FMS) Part number is 36625-16. these are ALMOST 1/8 of an inch longer!! 0.117" to be precise. So, if your running these rockers, you will need longer pushrods. Even FMS recomends them...little known fact.
The number I gave, was the specified number to be used with those rocker arms on a roller lifter engine (factory roller).
That would also be factory specs. Since this motor has been decked, I would strongly urge you to get the Comp Cams PR length gauge. It is worth it to buy a pair and check both valves at once.
