Server downtime

FTE had a complete failure of its primary database server this morning around 11:30 am. The RAID controller failed in such a way that the entire database partition was corrupted beyond repair. The database has been restored to another server but all posts from about 4 am to 11:30 am are lost.

With one major system down the site will be very slow at times. Forums search has been temporarily turned off in an attempt to maximize server response time. I hope to have the primary database server up and running again sometime Sunday afternoon.

Please, no complaints about server speed.... I'm the one who has to give up my weekend for this!

Glad I found this, I have been scratching my head this morning, with replies missing and read posts not marked as read, I was looking for a bigger coffee cup.

Oh, server problems. That explains it. We all just thought you were mad at us .

Well, Ken, at least you know not to touch that little red button again .

Thank you for your efforts. We all appreciate it.

Ken Thank you for you time on this. I wondered what happened yesterday, and stumbled on this post.
I personally appreciate it when you tell us what has happened rather than like some places that treat people like mushrooms.
Just thought I would let you know my appreciation for your time.

I think we should all chip in and buy Ken one of the "EASY" buttons, like in the Staples TV ads. Server goes down, Ken pushes the button from his favorite easy-chair at home...

Thanks for the heads up Ken. Did everything go ok over the weekend? I know how that can be - its what I do for a living also - but I get paid for it. Keep up the good work & thanks for all the fish.
