New to Forum
Just wanted to say Hi. I just got home a little while ago with a 1948 Ford F-3 that I found sitting beside the freeway with a buy me sign on it.
I have been looking for an old Ford truck for quite a long time and I could never find one that fit in my budget until now. This looks like a neat forum. I look forward to getting some info as the restoration process begins. A little info about what I found:
I'm the third owner
Has original Owner's manual
Flathead V-8 that still runs.
All of the dash is intact including the gauges.
Truck seems to be solid.
3 of the 4 hub caps (Lost one on the way home
)Good seat
Bed wood is gone
couple of cracked windows
etc...
Anyway, just wanted to say Hi!
Have a good one,
John

Good to see another fellow Wisconsinite (I would say Cheeshead but I hate that term). I'm located in Germantown and have a '49 F-2, among a few others. Good luck on the truck, sometimes when you're not looking for something that's when it just pops up. I have found a few parts trucks like that.
Welcome to our little corner of the world John.
We have a pretty good family-style atmosphere here, so you can let your kids or grandkids read over your shoulder and not worry. You'll also find a lot of knowledgeable folks who are very willing to help with answers to your questions. Once in a while the answers they give are even correct!
They will also give you a good teasing periodically - all in good fun.Go ahead and start up your gallery so we can see your new acquisition. Take a look at the sticky post at the top of the forum to make sure you set up your gallery properly.
As far as that hubcap goes - if it were me, I'd be out there tonight with a flashlight finding that thing. Even if you drove 50 miles before you noticed you lost it you should take a drive and look. An original in good shape, especially if you have the other three, is something to be prized! Go git that flashlight!

Thanks again for the welcome.

Nice looking truck. Where did you get it? I sure doesn't look like a Wisconsin native. You must have gone 140 south for it.
Thanks! It's a Wisconsin Farm Truck. It belonged to a family in the Weyauwega area. And that's where I picked it up. I'm just the third owner. The gentleman that bought it used it to haul stuff around the farm and it was stored most winters in his barn. Then he passed it down to his Son in Law and he did the same until about 6 years ago and he just let it sit outside. But until that time they both took very good care of it. All in all it's a very restorable truck. Hard to believe when I look at it that it's 57 years old
A friend of mine came by yesterday to look at it (he's a mechanic) he says he can have it up and running again with very little problems. Thanks again for the kind words!John
Mark your calendar for Sept. 16-18th for the 16th Annual Dash to the Dells and 2nd Unofficial panel truck nationals in Wisconsin Dells. If you don't have her running by then, come anyway and bring photos. Badgerland F100's will make you feel very welcome.

I went to the "Dash" last year for the first time, after threatening to go for many years. It was a great time and everyone there was great. The were people from all over the midwest and Cananda. The Badgerland F100 group is a super nice bunch of people. Last year I think 11 panel trucks showed up, hopefully, there'll be more this year.
Greg,
I was wondering about the "Dash", I know it's held every year but this is the first mention I have heard about it this year. I emailed Dean from his site to get info but never heard anything from him. Does the Badgerland F100s still have a web site? If so, what is the address?
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Last year, there were about 150 trucks including 17 panel trucks. BTW, 16 were Fords and 1 Chevy. Thats more Ford panels than you will see at the Supernats in Knoxville.

What kind of old stuff does this yard have? When was the last time you were there? Whenever the price of steel goes up the yards clean out their old iron, this happen just in the last couple of years, maybe since you've been out there.
