Sparkplug hole threading

1999 Ford Exp. 4X4, 5-4 L V8<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

For some strange reason the second spark plug became lose. The only thing that was holding in down in place was the pack that houses the boot. Well, I purchased a new pack and boot along with a plug, but the plug won’t screw in. It's as if though the plug that initially popped off bent or damaged the threads. I tried everything--using an old piece of hose to seat and guide the plug and from various angles. Anyhow, I don't know if this was the best thing to do, but I decided to use my tap and die set. I selected the tap and die that was exactly the width of the spark plug’s threads and it seemed to be working. I was able to feel the new threads taking shape. So I also used the die to clean and rethread the plug. Now, this is what I don't understand. The damn plug won’t go in no matter what I try. Any Ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions? Thank you all for your help.<o></o>

Sorry to be the bad news guy but you need to search for blown plug. This is very common on these engines till about 2000 1/2. Ford did not put enough material in the head and at around 100k people started blowing plugs. Some even destroy the COP and put dents in the hood. Timesert.com makes an awsome repair kit for this but you will need a deep wallet.
