Sparkplug hole threading

>For some strange reason the second spark plug became lose. The only thing that was holding in down in place was the pack that houses the boot. Well, I purchased a new pack and boot along with a plug, but the plug won’t screw in. It's as if though the plug that initially popped off bent or damaged the threads. I tried everything--using an old piece of hose to seat and guide the plug and from various angles. Anyhow, I don't know if this was the best thing to do, but I decided to use my tap and die set. I selected the tap and die that was exactly the width of the spark plug’s threads and it seemed to be working. I was able to feel the new threads taking shape. So I also used the die to clean and rethread the plug. Now, this is what I don't understand. The damn plug won’t go in no matter what I try. Any Ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions? Thank you all for your help.<o
