Driveshaft swapping

I have a 77 F100 with a 302, C6, and a 9 inch rear. The C6 was swapped in by the previous owner. When they did the swap they did a crappy butch job to weld the drive shaft together. I'm assuming the driveshaft is cut and welded because the C6 is longer than a C4 isn't it?

So my question is did Ford ever make a longbed with a factory C6 and 9 inch rear combo? I hope to be able find one of these in a junkyard so I can snag the drive shaft.

I would just get another driveshaft like you had from the junk yard. Measure what you have in the truck and have it profesionaly shortened there is nothing wrong with doing this if its done by a quality machine shop. Alot of heavy duty truck shops can do this also. If the guy didnt screw yours up to bad they may be able to just grind the welds off yours and retube it to the same length.

like was said above, if you can get a shaft that hasn't been hacked, then a machine shop can shorten a shaft without too much troble. i run a machine shop, and do drive shafts all the time.. usually $50 canadian to shorten a shaft. take your shaft there first, they may be able to fix it, but i doubt it.. if it's not straight, then they can't machine the yoke's straight enough to put another tube on....

if it's a quality shop doing the work, you won't need to worry about ballencing the shaft either, because a straight shaft won't cause a viberation. i've done hundreds of them, even a couple of my own... and never had a complaint
