Exhaust Smells Bad
I hope this is the right posting area for this. I have a 1964 390 4 BBL in a 75 f-100 4x4 that has an intake manifold leak in the back. My exhaust does not smoke at all, but smells like really strong exhaust. Like if you let your truck ran in the garage for a few hours then walk in. No smoke, no water, no oil in tailpipe. Could this be from the intake or maybe the heads? Or just need new mufflers? Starting to feel bad for those driving behind me. Gives the wife a headache!

is this while you are in the truck or outside of it? I don't know much to say other than you might have a or some leaks under or around the truck cab. The exhaust breaks and fumes roll into the vehicle and cause headaches and what not.

I'll go out on a limb here, what about the gas tank leaking fumes. Possibly a evap canister/plug deal thats sits on top of some gas tanks. Might be cracked, broke, missing, fell in the tank. Just a thought.

To verify if it is running rich, pull a couple of spark plugs and check them out.
My '76 F150 4x4 was doing something similiar to me...and it was a leak at where the manifold and exhaust meet. The little "donut" ring was cracked...replaced and no more headaches...at least not from the fumes
