Sagging door

my drivers side door has sagged since i bought the truck in feb '04, and well, its getting worse. i can slam it and lock it, but it still pops open.....first time i was doing 80...now its been doing it more n more and really startin to make me mad. i looked at it to "shim" it as others have suggested, but i don't know what to do. if you look at the door when its closed the bottom right corner is a good 1/4 inch low...any ideas on how to fix it?

your hinge pin bushing are probably shot.. grab the door at the bottom on the open end and lift. if there is any movement the pins and bushings need to be replaced. i did mine about a year ago. not fun but well worth it.

on a ford it is actually done by changing out the whole hinge or hinges.

you can actually drill out the pins and install CHEVY PINS AND BUSHINGS and then spot weld in the head.

cheaper but more time involved.

that is how i have always done it. these pins are peaned over from ford. so some aggression and drill would be required and then you may scratch the paint w/ the drill.

very common. ussually hinges on OBS style are like $60-70.

yeah, i'd had a look at the hinges earlier and say they were rolled over....i can spot weld if it i need to, but would rather not drill it as that can't be too much fun. don't care if i scratch the paint, the truck looks terrible in the first place. i wish i had the time this weekend to go to the junkyards, but i'm outta town tomorrow-sunday for a wedding....i'm gonna run down to O'reillys and see what they have to say. i'm gonna ask them about hinges as well. thanks a bunch

haha, yup, good ol country wedding. i don't know if its an open bar actually, but my buddy an di gonna enjoy ourselves afterwards. i went to O'reillys this evenin earlier and they guy there noticed tha tthe locking stud in the door-frame was loose, so i tightened that down, put a new bushing on it. its still gonna need new pins and bushings on the hinges. so, thats gonna be a project for alter. at lest now it stays closed....

I replaced my hinges last year top and bottom new from Ford . I think that is the easiest fix . I looked for my receipt but can't find it .Till you fix it right try adjusting the door at the hinges and check your door striker bolt . Once the door is closed and latched it shouldn't pop open.

i replaced just the pins and bushings and wasn't too bad. can't remember how i got the old pins out. i think i sheared them with an air hammer then knocked the bushings out then installed the new ones. no problem at all.
