Even you old-timers need to read through this post!!! There has been some confusion recently concerning how the galleries and albums work on FTE. Here’s the scoop as short as I could make it.
FTE keeps a Main Gallery List that is intended to contain ONLY albums that are Calendar Quality. It is a showcase for Ford Trucks and related vehicles. Now wait, you say, my gallery has several albums in it, and only one album contains nice three-quarter view and side view photos. So what do I do now? Well, what you do is go through all the albums in your gallery and check ALL of the "Hide Album" boxes EXCEPT the one with the Calendar Quality photos in it.
OK, so what does changing the "Hide Album" box actually do? When you leave the "Hide Album" box unchecked for an album, that album shows up in the Main Gallery Listing on FTE. This is the list that you access through the "Galleries" link on the FTE Main Page, or the "Galleries->List" menu at the top of any forum page. Again, it is intended to be a list of COMPLETED TRUCKS. The administrators get a little edgy when albums full of photos of old hoods, our rusty truck when we first got it, etc. show up in the Main Gallery List alongside all those Calendar Quality shots of completed trucks.
Well, you say, I want to be able to show other folks on the board what I’m doing with my project. How can I do that if my album is hidden? Ah weed-hopper, you have found the secret of FTE album hiding. Hiding an album ONLY removes it from the Main Gallery List. The album is still visible by clicking on your name in any post you’ve made, then choosing "View Gallery". Voila – the “hidden” album shows up along with any non-hidden albums you may have in your gallery.
So, we get the best of both worlds. If you have a Jim-dandy finished truck and some really snazzy shots of it that you think would look good in a calendar, put those photos in an album and leave the "Hide Album" box UNCHECKED for that album. If, on the other hand, you want other folks on the forums to be able to see your progress, parts, diagrams, avatar, etc., put that stuff in one or more other albums and CHECK the "Hide Album" box for each of those albums. Note that it is fine to have the "Hide Album" box checked for ALL the albums in your gallery. I suspect that most of us on this forum will not have any Calendar Quality photos for some time.
I’d really like to have each of you spend the five minutes (or less) it takes to review the albums in your galleries and make sure that ONLY albums with Calendar Quality photos in them have the "Hide Album" box UNCHECKED. ALL other albums should have the "Hide Album" box checked.
Here is a link to the guidelines for what is expected in a Calendar Quality album that would have the "Hide Album" box unchecked.
Thanks for clearing that up George. The instructions on the gallery creation/edit page is very unclear at least to me. I just went thru and "hid" all my galleries, Gracie isn't quite ready for primetime calendar shots just yet.
Are the calendar quality shots which are unchecked going to be considered for a future calendar spread, or? I just mounted my new rims and tires and will be taking some photos this weekend and posting them and may have some quality shots I can post. I'll go through my gallery and hide all the others. Thanks Earl.

I trust that the small icon-sized gallery preview in the upper left corner doesn't necesarily indicate a non-hidden gallery?... I was here the other day and glanced up there to see a very familiar pic. One that I just knew was hidden. I raced to check it, lo and behold it was hidden...
No, not the avatar. Just under the 'Home' and 'Forums' buttons atop my page is an avatar-size pic previewing someone's gallery with text reading:
"(year) Ford (model)"
"Manage/Create Your Gallery"
below the picture...
But having more accurately read your eloqent dissertation above, I learned the answer to my question being that we are only hiding these from a MAIN gallery.
To me, my truck IS calender quality! Yeah it's rough to say the least, but seeing an old beat up PU thrills me as much as a shiney one. I changed my album to "hide" as instructed. But this to me negates the "vision" of this site! Sounds like they have server issues to me.
George,
I only have one album in my gallery but have 18 pics in that album. My first pic is a shot of Old Betsy all shined up and freshly painted. That is the one that shows on the gallery list. So...... then I don't have to hide any albums since I only have one, right???
I have read what I can find and understand most of it. I have tried to set up my
gallery two or three times, still can"t get to the part of getting pictures in...???
I must need one on one tutoring!
