I am going to look at a '91 Bronco tomorrow and wanted to know if you guys thought it is a good deal.
It's a 302 with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a manual transfer case. It's got 156K miles. Apparently the interior is in good condition and the exterior is decent except for some rust on the tailgate.
Apparently the A/C is not working (I kind of need it here in Georgia). Did the '91 have R-134 (I don't think that the A/C has ever been replaced)?
I sounds like a well kept up bronco, and I rather the manuel shift over the electric, and it has a good interior, so it doesn't sound to be beaten on, the tailgate would be easy to fix. But the A/C would be R12 if it hasn't been converted. I would keep it R12, but that's me.
It's a really fun truck to have, good luck.
No, it wouldn't have R134. I had a '92 I picked up a few months back with busted a/c, I just went ahead and converted to the hippie 134. Now has the coldest a/c I have ever felt (important here in TX too). I had a helluva time getting the a/c fixed (and it cost me twice what it should have), but that was also because the mechanics I took it to were retards.
Make sure you have an a/c guy that you know look at it, if you can, before you buy to see what you're getting into first. If the compressor blew up, you're looking at a pretty expensive fix. If it was just a leak, it's pretty cheap and easy.
