Can anyone give me the distance from the firewall to the back edge of the rad. cap where the fenders bolt on. I just need a starting point of some sort.
Hers a link to a pic showing what I mean.
(Pic belong to JagRed54) Hope you don't mind Jon.
It is from the forward face of the air dam. I don't have a radiator valance (rad cap panel) occupying the dimension space. The air dam is .050 thick, so take a 1/16" off that.
I get a measurement of 16' 8". Come to think of it, that's probably not very helpful since my cab is on the opposite side of the shed from where my chassis is. One of these days I'll get the cab back on the frame.
Thanks Randy,
That clears it up, that will be a big help
P.S. I knew there was a better name for that thingie (rad cap) I just couldn't think of it.

Hey Mike, I like your paint job. It reminds me of my truck. On a serious note, let me chime in on the measurement. I believe that the measurement for a 53-55 may be 3/4" shorter than a 56. When I installed the SS inner fender wells, they would not fit. I talked to a guy on the phone for an hour on the subject and finally asked him to measure his old stock 56 inner fender wells. His were 3/4" longer than my 54 stock units. I trimmed 3/4" off of the SS and they fit perfect. I believe that the manufacturer took the initial measurements off of a 56 believing that they would work fine for all 53-56 effies. Just food for thought. Jag
