Looking at one of the 4wheel drive magazines I caught the article on the "Hoss" SD to compete with the Dodge PowerWagon. Looked pretty cool, with 35" tires and e-lockers.
Anyone else read the short article on it? I was surprised they put 35" tires on it with stock suspension.
It's in 4-Wheel & Off Road mag, got it in the mail today.
The axles will easily handle 35" tires. I just wish I could get the Detroit Electrac for the Sterling axle. The Dana 60 front axle version is available right now.
I thought it would be a great truck to go against the Dodge, and appreciate how close it is to what we can buy now. It's basically a current vehicle, with minor offroad specific improvements. I've got the V-10 and 4.30 gearing...I guess I just need the tires and lockers I wonder though if there are *any* changes that help clear the 35" tires, except the wheels of course (probably difference offset/backspacing).
God, I want one of those trucks. Or at the very, very least for them to offer the rear locker for the Sterling. I heard rumors about this truck about six months ago, even made a post about it (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=382970), but couldn’t get any info. According to the article it looks like we all need to start e-mailing and writing the mag and Ford and tell them how much we need this truck. To me it seems like a no-brainer, hell even Chevy has started to offer rear lockers in their trucks, but I guess Ford just need some persuasion to do the right thing. So please, oh god please, start emailing, start writing, do something. We have got to get the message though.
Got the 4 wheel off road mag. 2 days ago. Even thought the V10 is 550 lbs. lighter, I still think the Super duty platform can handle the diesel weight in extreme off-road.
If the Hoss edition comes out w/ Power Stroke, I might have to sell my current super duty!
I remember that Joker, cause i'd seen basically the same truck in one of Fords Parts catalogs and was ?ing about it. Only they was talking about building a Big Foot truck. It show'd this trucks and told about all the parts in the book. Only it wasn't listing any part numbers or giving anymore details about the truck.
I'd ike to see how much it will cost if they do build it. I mean really, the only differences in that and a completely stock truck is the the bumpers, tires, and ElecTrac's. Don't get me wrong, it's a sharp truck, but there's really not much done to it. That stuff there SHOULD be what an FX4 package consists of. Instead of some bogus shocks, a sticker, skid plates, and a steering stabilizer. If they make that package there, the FX4 package, then it would be worth it.
