Why is it....

...when someone here has a problem they just can't wait to tell us about it, but when the problem is resolved we never seem to hear from them again? There are several people on FTE for whom I and my dealership have gone out of our way to help out. They made sure that everyone here knew about their problems, and I can tell you that we did a LOT (above and beyond the responsibilities of a Ford dealer) to resolve the situation and make them happy. The parties told us they'd report back here and let everyone on FTE know that their problems were resolved and were now most happy with Van Bortel Ford. It sure would be nice to hear from these folks, considering all we've done for them. So far, not one word, at least that I can find. Is this too much to ask?

It's not too much to ask at all, Jeff. But I think that's they way people are, in general, nowadays. They make a fuss when they want something fixed (which is understandable), but they're not so eager to make a fuss once it's fixed, or to thank those who fixed it. I guess that's they whole nature of forums.... 90% of the posts are about problems people are having; makes it seem that these trucks are nothing but problems. Makes you forget of all the people out there who don't post because they don't have problems, or have never even heard of FTE.

Sorry that yours and Ernie's hard work doesn't get appreciated by everyone, Jeff. But trust me, there are many, MANY people here who wouldn't know what to do without you two, and really appreciate the time you take to help us out, especially when you do it just to be helpful, and don't even get a dime out of it.

PS - Jeff and Ernie, I think I can speak for everyone here when I say, We Love You!

While this doesn't have anything to do with me, I know how you feel - dealing with consumers can be very difficult, as many seem to expect MUCH more than what is reasonable.

For the past 20 years I have worked in the restaurant industry, and deal with people like this on a daily basis. There was an actual study performed to find out how the average consumer complains/praises about dealings with a company. If service was bad the average person tells 4 people, if it was good they tell 1 person - how sad.

It always comes back to you- just not in ways you might see at the time. We helped out a stranger from Southern Oregon one weekend last winter that was having troubles with their D-Max. I just delivered the second Corvette to people they've referred to me.

I believe ryan is correct. People today have a very tough time saying thank you. If you look around these days and the personal respect paid to others is non-exhistant. It is fastly becomming a "all about me" world. I believe you have to look out for yourself, but there are way to act and respect others. There are countless examples I can think of in retail, restaurant, and service industry that people are red in the face mad. Making no sence and creating a scene in the process. They just look like trash to me when I see it. When you are wronged, why can't people just act normal and convey the issue and a possible solution instead of blowing up? That's what I do. When you are not wronged and everything is fine, say THANK YOU anyways.

SSDD Jeff, same as everywhere, even the tech forums. We only hear the negatives.

I think that we have all seen that happen at one point or another in our past. I used to run a worldwide service organization for a major telecom company. A little thanks always went a loooooong way! Maybe the best solution is for all of us to take a moment to really say thanks the next time someone helps us.(What a concept!!) We all need to do it.

Just to reinforce what was said above, you guys make the purchase process a whole lot easier for all of us, and I for one appreciate it. I think a lot of people forget how much info is really here. This is the first time in a loooong time I have dropped so many $$ on something yet I knew exactly what the outcome would be. It made the experience a whole lot more fun! TNX!
