Howdy Yall
Hoping someone could assist with info. I have a 91 Explorer 4x4 with A4LD
and T13-54. I pulled the t-case out to put in a new gasket between it and
transmission(was leaking fluid here). Is there even supposed to be any fluid
in this cavity? And if not where might it likely be coming from, transmission
output seal or t-case input seal? Also if you have any tips for special care
or maintenance I should do while I have the t-case out, I would appreciate
that also. A link to an exploded view of this t-case would be helpful too.
Thanks and GOD Bless Yall.
I'll preface my statement with "I don't know anything about Explorers" but that being said all the 'married' t-cases (where they're bolted straight to the tranny) that I've seen DO have tranny fluid in that cavity. The rear of the transmission should be relatively exposed when you remove the t-case. Again, I could be wrong but this has been my experience with the type of junk I work on that uses a married case with an automatic tranny.
