Hey guys I was wondering if anyone was having a problem that has been hapening to my 2005 F-250 4x4 6.0/tqshift truck. The problem occurs once or twice a month on occasion, the truck starts hard shoots a small cloud of smoke out the tail pipe and after it warms up when i come to a intersection the idle needle goes up and down very slightly and the vibration is slightly noticible comming from the engine when this happens, does anyone with this similar problem know what causes this and what is the cure for this symptom, if not the problem disappears the same day after i come home from work and the truck fires up perfectly the next day. The only aftermarket thing I reciently put on the truck is a MBRP catback t-409 single 4in. exhaust system, the problem occured before this was put on so I cant blame the system for this any help would greatly appriciated.
Don't know if it's related to what you are describing but I my X has recently been idling funny as well. Two oil changes ago I began noticing a puff of white smoke and a brief rough idle at startup. Last week I noticed the idle would increase by 10-15rpms, then drop, go back up, drop. It doesn't do it all the time but it is noticeable when it does. Last night, while at a stop sign, I felt the truck move forward. I made sure I was pressing on the brake, which I was, then looked at the rpms. The AIC was reading in mid 600s and dropping. Usually, at stops, it reads in the low 600s. At that point I new I had experienced a sudden idle surge which caused the truck to lunge forward. Not good!
Put in a call to the local service rep and am awaiting some feedback. Will post with what has been found.
I have a new 2005 f-250 super duty with the 6.0. Mine has done this also. One time after I let it idle for 15mins when it had only 1500miles on it, I left down and took off on the hiway and big cloud of whitish blue smoke rolled out the exhaust I drove it out to the farm about 10miles away parked for the day came back that night and went to start it and it cranked for about 15secs and did not start recycled the glow plugs and it started after about 10secs of cranking. The second time was the day after I used it to haul hay and pulled it really hard. Went out at noon the next day and it cranked and cranked finally ran no smoke this time.
