I have a 91 f150 heritage with the 300 4.9L 125k motor is stong no oil leaks of any kind. Im very serpised.
Did some reading and searching about this motor found its very strong but weak in the hp.
My questions is what are the pro and cons of the motor and twin i beam. I have a 3 in body lift and i just orderd my 8 inch susp lift from jackit.com and im going to put 38s. can the motor push and handle this i was think of swap it to a 351 but i dont like v8 bc of gas and there hevyer. and how strong is that front end i was also think of puting a solid axle under it but if the front end can handle it i wont.
I seen that you can get the 300 to have pretty good hp by chiping it and changing the injectors and the exaust. I also seen if you take of the smog stuff you can get really good gains i live in idaho and i have no emissions or saftys here so how do you tell if the truck is smog and if so how do you take it off. Thakks for the help.

I'm confused - is your truck 2wd? Usually when people refer to a twin I-beam, it refers to the 2wd front suspension. TTB, or twin traction beam is the 4wd front axle.
The pros of the motor is that they are virtually indestructable. They are known for going 400,000+ miles without a rebuild. They give great low end torque and are just awesome all-around truck motors. The downside you already know about - they lack horsepower. Don't plan on changing too much around before you run into the limitations of the stock computer.
The 300 will push tires that big, but you MUST get the correct gears. If you throw 38's on that truck and don't touch the gears, you will be sorely disappointed. There are a number of gear ratio calculators that you can run to figure out what you need to get.
The TTB and twin I-beam - some people hate them, some love them. They are very strong, no doubt about it, but they have a tendency to wear tires funny. They are much harder to lift than a solid axle truck. If I were doing an 8" lift, I would do a solid axle swap as part of the deal. That's just my preference.
To swap in a manual you will probably be better off finding a donor truck. There are a lot of nickel and dime parts that will get you. Choose your tranny carefully. You also may run into computer issues if you have an electronically controlled tranny like the E4OD.

solid axle conversion help
OK i want to go with 8 or 9 inch lift and i was told to go with a solid axle conversion bc ttb has bad tire ware and alliment problems when going that high.
I found a kit for $1700 buck but im not going to pay that price. Has anyone done on befor. What would i need to do it myself what parts besides that front end. i can get a half ton front end for 300 bucks compleat. i know i need the upper spring purches and tire rodes raidus arms what else. or is there now way to do it urself. Thanks

Search the forums, especially the offroad forum. Reason I say this - its been covered MANY times. You will find all you need.
A complete D44 out of a 78/79 F150/Bronco is the easiest most bolt-in swap. Just do a search, and when you search there's a tool that allows you to specify how many replies had to be to a thread to be displayed, bump that up to like 5 replies minimum so that you don't get just a bunch of posts like yours that have somebody asking then being told to search.

Ok i have done tons of serching and it has not help much i see that i have two choices 44 or 60 coil or leaf. witch is the chepest and easyest for a 91 ford. i still cant find a part list the one by in the jimmydean thread dose not exest or somthing. i havent found what it has cost ppl or what.
