I ordered a new 06, crew cab, short box, amarillo f-250 in June. I was very excited to learn that I would get the employee price deal on it since it would be in by September 6th.
Well today my dealer calls to tell my my truck is in, so I run down to look it over. When I get there I find out that ford screwed up the order and the truck came in with a long bed! They ordered the truck right, I saw the papers, it was fords fault. I asked if I ordered a new one if I could still get the discount even though it wouldnt be in by the time it expires and they said no.
I came on home mad and frustrated with them telling my they would try to find one from another dealer, which is gonna be like a needle in a haystack since i dont want a moonroof. Am I wrong to think that ford should make this right instead of me waiting another 6 to 8 weeks for a more expensive truck and a lower trade in value. What would you do?
I guess it depends on how important getting a short bed is to you. I just got my crew cab long bed, and I love it, but it may not be for you.
At the very least, you should not have to pay for the long bed as that was Ford's mistake. You should pay what the price would be with the short bed.
Sadly, although it would be nice to think that Ford would give you the truck you ordered for the price as it stands now, I don't see that happening, and I think that the best you can do is to: 1. if you can live with the long bed, take the truck you ordered that has the long bed on it by mistake, but for the price of the short bed; or 2. order the truck again, and hope that the rebates at the time of delivery is comparable to what you would pay now.
You may be able to find the truck of your dreams in stock somewhere, but as with any stock vehicle, you are likely going to be making a compromise somewhere, so decide what you can compromise on, or be prepared to pay more when the truck you want comes in from order.
The way i see it,take the truck the way it is.Cause ford will not work with u on anything,i know this from experiance. My truck came in with some of the things i ordered.Like i ordered 3.73 instead of the 4.10.Dealer says to me (its not a big deal) i told them it is,cause its not what i ordered. It really wasnt i was just being an jerk.
Its just the fact that they cant get it right the frist time.
Anyway i would go with the long bed,i have a long bed and i love it.The extra room cant hurt.If thats the only issue and everything is the way you wanted it to be go for it.

I think that Ford should honor the price they initially made for you AND get you the truck you ordered. I hate "the ol' switcher-oo" dealers pull so often, and it would just grind on my nerves (buyers remorse?). Personally, I would demand they get you the truck you ordered or give you a refund (assuming you put a deposit down?). Yes, you would probably be able to get used to the long bed, but it'd just chap my (backside expletive) all the while.
If they refuse to provide you the truck you wanted, get your refund and go shopping elsewhere! I believe in brand loyalty, but if your local Ford dealer AND Ford Motor Corp as a whole is not willing to work with you, the heck with them. There's too many other good trucks out there for them to act like they're the only game in town. Let's not forget: they're in the customer service business, so they need to cater to your needs... you shouldn't have to compromise and take something you didn't want.
i am going to agree with the above post. Its YOUR truck and YOUR money. As such, if you ordered it with purple paint and a moonroof, then by God, thats what you should have recieved. I dont know who you can call about it. Its kinda like calling hitler to complain about the ***** in your neigborhood. If you can't get 'no satisfaction', i guess the next best thing is to get the truck and pay the short bed price for it, and then demand some freebies somewhere...hoodliner, fender liners ,clearance lights, you name it. I HAD to have a shortbed because its a littel easier to park, i dont need a long bed, and most importantly, it wouldnt fit in my garage.
I would get what you want. Not your screw up it is Ford's. I would raise holy he!! about it & not take the truck if its not WHAT YOU WANT!!! It's too much money nowadays to compromise if you ARE NOT HAPPY!

Absolutely correct.....
These trucks cost too much money to not get what you want....
If you wanted a long bed,you would have ordered one.....
They should honor the original deal and get you what you ordered.....
If the dealer does not make good on it....take your money
elsewhere....
I have a funny feeling that if you say that, they will say, okie dokie....it will sit on our lot for about 2 hrs until someone buys it for the asking price. Then you can take your cocky attitude and stick it in your !@#......thats what they will tell you. I only say this because i tried to go to a dealer that i did not purchase my truck from, and have warranty work done. They were supposed to replaced trhe fuel cap tether...since it wasnt there, but they couldnt because i did not purchase it there and the cap was not stock.......So, be tactful, they can always give you the big FU.
I would freak on them. When we spend that amount of money we want exactly what we order. You obviously like the look of the shortbox better so you should get that. I agree. If I had to look at a longbox everyday I would always have that in the back of my mind, that It wasn't what I wanted. Don't settle for less. Get your truck at the original agreement. It was their mistake not yours.

Then I would be GLAD to leave. 40,000 plus dollars & you take it or leave it. Wouldn't take me long to tell the dealer FU . ANYBODY who would accept that kind of atittude buying anything needs to take a course in getting a backbone. There are many dealers happy to work with you. There are more trucks out there & will be many more if the fuel price situation doesn't change.
Yes, you should. You shouldnt have to wait for them to tell you to screw off. It just sucks that you will have to find another one that is close...
They ought to rebuild it as an 06 and give you the quoted price of your original deal...
How does something like that get screwed up anyway? Your dealer probly faxed it in or something, its not like some goon had to transcribe it and misread something.
This is a good example of why you want to get everything in writing. If you had a copy of the original order and agreement it would be no problem to get what you wanted at the price they promised. Now the cracker jacks are probably saying that you ordered a long bed and trying to place the burden on you. But outside of that, I would definitely refuse to take a truck that wasn't equipped with exactly what I ordered. And for them to refuse to provide you with the employee discount due to an error on their part, well that is ridiculous. I would go all the way to the top and demand you get it. If not, go elsewhere.
