have any of you ran the BBK throttle body in direct replacement of the stock one? how much of a difference did it make in your engine?

Don't bother, not worth a dime IMO.

Depends on the rest of your motor. If you're putting it on a stock engine, I doubt you would notice any difference. You will see a difference on a heavy-breathing modified engine though, because the stock throttle body can be the bottleneck in your intake tract.

No you won't, that edelbrock TB is not ment for high horsepower engines. Neither is their intake, their stuff is junk. I found out the hard way, trust me.

You could put that TB and their intake on a stock motor and get more power but not a good bang for the buck. You could spend that money on way better things and get way better results. Their stuff is junk.

Like I said, it depends on the rest of your engine. Apparently you didn't get the power gains you expected. I would hardly classify all of their products as "junk" because they didn't help your engine. Careful parts matching is one of the most important parts of an engine build.

I personally have a BBK 61mm dual TB on my 521, and I'm very pleased with it.

Call up edelbrock, I did, they say the 56mm TB and their intake are ment for stock engines. They are very restrictive on a hi-po motor. I'm loosing serious hp on my 393 because of it. I'm going to switch to a trick flow or other mustang style intake with a single bore TB.

Well sorry to thear what the Edelbrock intake did to your truck Justin but on mine it made a huge increase in power, as far as the throttle body don't waste your money if you are running a stock engine. If you have aftermarket heads and a good cam it would probably help out. I noticed after I put my BBK throttle body on that my gas pedal was alot stiffer and took some to get used to. I've since removed the BBK and put the stock one back on and actually gained power by going back to stock. Save your money.

Put it this way,

Another guy I spoke to has a 393 with AFR 185s (much better then my heads), he had the 56 TB and intake combo on it, he picked up 60 horsepower by switching it to a mustang intake. I called edelbrock and they said the intake/TB wouldn't be sufficient at all for a 393. It's ment for stock or near stock 351s. Which, I think it completely stupid. You think edelbrock would have a good performance part but not always. I told them they should put that in their ads, that it's not ment for a hi-po motor.

I didn't find this out until after the fact, I couldn't believe it when I found out.

It's not worth the $700-$800 for the intake/TB setup...you could spend that on something else for the 351 and get more power for the money.
