If you cant make it to the dealer, its fairly simple to make a quick fix yourself. I took my 97 F150 4x4 flarside in and all they did was disconnected the plug-in on the switch and placed black tape on it. I have no cruise control now, but the worries are calmed. I have to take the truck back up there in november when they will have the replacement part availible, or so they told me.
The sensible thing for Ford to do is replace the switch, but however they have come up with a better and cheaper idea!!! Install a fused wire that feeds the cruise switch. Now that makes sense! The switches are bad, lets not replace them.
