on my 428, the intake is cracked on the top waterneck mounting stud boss.
this was noticed when i was trying to stop all the leaks. i need to make a temporary repair that will last till i pull the motor for the restoration next year.
i am thinking of pulling the waterneck, setting the stud in place, and using JB weld to hold it in place and seal the crack. what do yall think???
btw, this is on an edelbrock F427 aluminum intake.
The 390 that was in my highboy froze and cracked the block behind the bellhousing. I drilled out the ends of the crack, made up a thick sheet metal form (1/16") that almost fit the block, drilled the form and block, and tapped the block.
I oiled the block down, spread marine-tex on the inside of the sheet metal form, bolted it up to the block, let the marine-tex cure 24 hours, removed the form, cleaned the block, spread RTV on the marine-tex mold, and bolted it back onto the block. No more leak ... for 10 years... held 14 lbs pressure too...
