What are you wanting to know? I've got a 6AL on my Mustang and a 6A on my F-150, both with a 302.

Jack, just a question unrelated to the thread. Your signature lists you having a 95 F150 with a 302 and a 4R70W - how sure are you that it is a 4R70W? The 4R70W wasn't used in trucks till the new body style, are you sure its not an E4OD or an AODE more likely? I'd be curious, because that would be an awesome hit for fans of the MN12 - Pre-98 Thunderbirds, Cougars, and Mark VIII's.

What are you trying to get out of the MSD? I wouldn't think it would do much on a stock engine to add it.

I wasn't very impressed with the 6A... I ran for about a week with it and except for a smoother idle, I didn't notice a THING. No mileage, performance, or anything else to speak of. Who knows, maybe I should start playing with the plug gaps a bit. I did install the blaster coil too, so I might start opening the gap up in .005 increments and drive on a few tanks and see if mileage gets better. So far though, pretty underwhelmed.

I have known a few folks that just haven't gotten much out of them...

If you decide you are going to do it though, GET the plug in harness from MSD. No cutting or splicing, it is a direct plug in. It's the Ford TFI harness.

The only reason I have one on my truck is that I already had one lying around. Personally, it hasn't done much for the truck. Now the Mustang it made a huge difference on, but it isn't even close to stock. I suppose that the more modifications you make to the engine, the more difference you will notice with the MSD.

Yea, dont let ignition be in your first mods.

Saurian, the 4r70w started with the mass-air trucks... I think. lol

Modern ignitions are pretty good... until you start making more HP the MSD might not help much. I put one in my Mustang though and it really helped, but like the guy above, it's got some stuff done to it

I would say that I am 100 % sure that it is the 4r70w tranny..door sticker,,sticker under the under and vin# denote the tranny code..And the name plate on the tranny denoting its model serial and manufacter date...

Also when I changed the tranns filters for the first time years ago I did some research into the tranny...being that not all parts companys get it right...
i have almost 200,000 miles on the tranny and it is just as good as day one with a little wear and tear..I would not trade it for a e40d ...have that in my work truck and wore it out

MemOrex is correct the 4r70w is installed in most M.A.F. trucks late 94 early and late 95 and 96

i put a MSD in my 92 F150, with a few other basic mods and found a slight pick up... but after doing the coil and opening the plugs up some (with quality wires also) it was a not able difference... makes the little I6 really pull. only mods are exhaust, air filter, MSD, and high flow water/ oil pumps... help to keep it cool on the longer runs.

In brief, the MSD boxes are unreliable at best. If you're able to keep one for more than 7500-10,000 mi., count your blessings! Nice while they last, but I'll bet it's short lived.
